Know what every calculation retains.

Understand retained assumptions and the boundary between calculation and project confirmation.

Calculation method and result interpretation.

Solar Tools reports a deterministic configuration result only after required values pass field validation. It does not replace the approved electrical design, local code or manufacturer data.

PV string compatibility and matching

Module Voc and Vmpp are adjusted from 25 °C using the supplied Voc coefficient. Isc is adjusted using the supplied Isc coefficient. Cold Voc uses the declared minimum ambient temperature; hot operating voltage and current use ambient temperature plus the stated mounting rise.

Panel Matcher and Inverter Finder call that same compatibility kernel. The published reference classes are screening profiles, not a statement of product availability or a substitute for the selected equipment data sheet.

Yield and cable models

Yield equals DC capacity × user-supplied monthly plane-of-array irradiation × performance ratio × availability. If monthly irradiation is unavailable, the estimator returns no energy value.

Cable voltage drop uses the DC round-trip relationship ΔU = 2 × L × I × ρ(T) / S. A cable can be recommended only when its calculated voltage drop and derated ampacity both pass.

Result states

Pass is within the selected calculation condition. Warning is near a stated operating boundary. Engineer review needs a project decision or documented arrangement. Blocked means a safety-related value exceeds the entered limit.

Project snapshots

Saved results are stored in the browser with engine version, inputs and result metrics. A selected matcher candidate creates a new draft for String Compatibility; changing an input creates a newer calculation state rather than silently overwriting the prior snapshot.
