A large PV plant is assembled as a sequence of conversion and collection stages. At the array, strings feed combiner boxes that consolidate DC current. From there, collector lines carry that energy to a central step-up substation, where transformers raise the voltage and switchgear connects the plant to the grid. Ring main units (RMUs) and other switchgear manage how feeders are switched and protected along the way. Each stage has its own voltage level, protection philosophy and equipment envelope, and the whole chain must be specified as one system rather than as independent purchases.

Which voltage levels are available for the RMU range?

The planning range starts at 12, 24 and 40.5 kV. The final voltage, insulation method and switching arrangement are confirmed from the project design.

How many circuits can the RMU include?

The starting range is 2 to 6 circuits. The approved ring topology, cable terminations, protection and metering requirements determine the final arrangement.

Can the RMU be connected to SCADA?

Optional motorization and DTU/FTU communication interfaces can be reviewed. Protocol, I/O, remote commands and control responsibility must be confirmed before release.

How should SF6, solid-insulated and air-insulated options be compared?

Compare the project environmental requirements, footprint, maintenance approach, applicable type, operating method and required documentation rather than selecting on voltage alone.
